City of Glennville is accepting applications for a Volunteer Fire Chief. This position directs and oversees all functions of the fire department and is responsible for maintaining discipline, order, and proper conduct for all personnel. Establishes and enforces all laws, ordinances, and policies regarding fire prevention and safety in accordance with law and National Fire Prevention Codes. The Chief approves all training programs and supervises training. Work includes inspection of buildings for fire code approval.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Georgia’s driver’s license class C
- Registered volunteer firefighter
- Pass a background check and must agree to being fingerprinted
- Special courses in firefighting and prevention techniques
- Considerable experience in responsible fire position with command experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to meet requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Seven (7) years paid or verifiable, active volunteer experience as a firefighter
- Three (3) years as a superior officer (Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief or Chief)
- State Certified Firefighter, through the Georgia Fire Standards and Training Council
- Successfully completed NIMS Training as required for Senior Level Response Managers
